Simple Meal Planning - Plan to Eat

Quick & Easy Oven Fries

Mar 6 All Ages

  • Facebook25

As a newlywed, I made a lot of new recipes. Even if I came across a great recipe that my husband and I both liked, it would be months before I decided to make it again. That’s one thing my husband complains about: I don’t make his favorite foods enough. But I’ve learned more recently that it is a lot more cost-effective to make the same foods over and over again. Sure, every once in a while it’s nice to try a new dish, but when you want a grocery budget that is fairly predictable and easily affordable, you need to make meals over and over again.

These oven fries are a breeze to throw together. The seasoning is spot on, and at just $0.32 a serving, why wouldn't you make these at least once a week? These quick oven fries are great to make more often because you can eat them with many different main dishes. They’re the bomb with chicken, amazing with steak, and excellent with a hot sandwich.

The only way they can truly be quick is by making the seasoning mix ahead of time and in bulk. I prefer to make enough for 3 batches, but you could easily double or triple this recipe if you make oven fries often enough.

 Quick & Easy Oven Fries

Ingredients:

1/2 T. garlic salt
1/2 T. onion powder
1/2 T. Italian seasoning
1/2 T. paprika
2 T. parsley flakes
1 1/2 T. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 T. basil leaves
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1-2 T. olive oil
7 potatoes, skins scrubbed and washed

Directions:

1. Mix seasonings together in a bowl. Cut potatoes into wedges. Lay out a couple paper towels on the table and place the wedges one by one on the paper towels. Now pat dry. Throw the dried wedges into a large stainless steel or glass bowl with 2 T. of the seasoning mixture and olive oil. Mix well with hands (I like to put gloves on for this part).

2. Arrange the potatoes on a 9×13 baking sheet lined with foil, parchment paper, or a silicone baking mat (I bought one similar to this one on Amazon, but the one I bought is no longer available). Throw into a 425F oven for 25 minutes. Pull out and flip potatoes over. Put back into oven and turn temperature down to 400 for another 10-15 minutes.

Don’t forget to make some fry sauce to go with this!!

Serves about 5-6 people.

I really hope you like it! It actually took me a couple years to finally get it right. I tried several different recipes and none of them ever turned out how we liked them, tasty AND crispy outside/soft inside.

[…] My husband is no world-renowned chef, but when he wants to cook, he can cook. For one of our first dates, he invited me to his place for dinner.
